First year in the Orlando area and I was not about to miss the Orlando Round of Formula Drift! It’d been quite a while since I’d seen any drifting or been to any car related events. Excited would be a good description of the mood of the day. I’ve loved formula drift or just drifting in general for many years, but I’d never actually been to a professional event. I’d only ever seen like, “side shows” at other events and they’d have three or four cars there burning rubber.

If you’ve never seen or been to a formula drift event, it’s so intense! Drift cars are loud, powerful and specially built for this type of racing. I’m not certain of the entry speeds at the Orlando track but I do know that in Atlanta both cars come in to the turn at over 100 mph. So take 100 mph, then just yank the e-brake. Haha! There’s many other terminologies for an entry but we won’t get into that here. This is all about some photos! If you’d like to talk drifting feel free to hit me up on the M81 socials. I like talking cars!

So yea, anyway, I didn’t have any sort of credential for this event (no surprise there, ha!) so of course that just meant it was time to get creative! I landed in several spots where there were holes in the fencing around the track but was quickly shooed away by the security. I was still able to get some pretty sweet shots and be close enough to have to shake the rubber off myself before driving home, hahaha! The event was surprisingly lax compared to other events I go to. I was able to walk right into the pits without even having to pay extra for a “pit pass”. I ended up running into some people I knew in the pits so that was cool to catch up with them too.

Formula Drift Recap

Alright so, if you ever get the chance to go to a formula drift event, definitely go. It’s super exciting and fun for everyone! You get to watch  900+ horsepower cars slide around a track in tandem door to door. If that’s not fun..I don’t know what is! I hope you guys enjoy the photos below and again, feel free to hit me up on the M81 socials!
